HAPPY MAIL - TAG SWAP

...if we all did things we were capable of doing we would literally astonish ourselves...
- Thomas Edison -

...hello everyone...today I have the pleasure of sharing with you a Swap I have done with a very talented lady who's blog is an absolute delight to browse through...you'll find many treasures in all styles of crafting and if your ever looking for inspiration this is the place to be from vintage to rainbow brights you'll be wow''d by her creativity...

...we decided on a HEART themed Tag and here is what Mr Postie delivered to me...

...a lot more than just a Tag!...

...how gorgeous is this, I adore hearts of all shapes, sizes & textures...

...metal wings...

...superb techniques...

...a very fitting sentiment...

...finished off with a delightful bloom...

...if you haven't already guessed my Swap has been with the loVely Trace Metcalfe who has won many awards for her work...

...but it doesn't stop there, also in my parcel was many many envelopes full of gorgeous Die Cuts and another Tag with a personal message on the back...

...a wonderful surprised to recieve all this candy, I was blown away by Trace's generosity, her kindness has touched my heart...this has been my first Swap and I hope there will be many more, thank you so so much Trace your Tags adorn my wall...xxx

...here is what I made in return...

...I covered a Tag with Ranger Tissue Tape and embossed it with the Tree Branch folder...

...I added walnut DI splats & white emulsion splodges, The whole Tree was coloured in Walnut & the eye-let is a washer coated with embossing powders...

...I coated a wooden heart in Barn Door then loaded it with distress crackle, once dried I repeated the process and heated, while still hot I dropped embossing power in random patches then heated again, the effect is what you see above it was a total experiment! (at school I was rubbish at chemistry too)...

...I made a wire mesh and added the word sacred...

...I covered the back of the Tag and added a faux leather topper with a embossed sentiment...

...when I get time I will do a tutorial on how to achieve the effect on the heart, I know there are a lot of piccy's but I hope you have enjoyed looking at them...
...thank you for dropping by today I'm really glad your here...

...I cut a primitive heart from white denim and stapled that to the tag then added a rosette flower made with some gorgeous Basic Grey papers...

...a pair of crackled wings with a yummy leather heart adorn the top of the rosette flower...

TEXTURES & CIRCLES

...the funny thing about life, if your refuse to accept anything but the best, you very often get it...
- W Somerset Maugham -

...hello everyone...today I'm sharing with you a Tag I've made using many layers of Inks, paints & textures...I hope you like it...

...I gave a plain manilla tag a random coating of PaperArtsy Fresco Paint in Mermaid, followed by a heavy dosing of Walnut Distress Ink, followed by random circles in Black Soot, then put it sideways in Tim's Tree Branch embossing folder...

...I cut a piece of roughly torn corrugated card with Tim's movers & shapers Book Plate Die (which could double up as tombstone!) and again randomly gave it a coat of the ParperArtsy Fresco Paint in Honey Dew, followed by Black Soot & Walnut DI I also used a smidge of textured embossing powder, at the head of the Book Plate I used a gorgeous fox head button...

...I used a piece of leather with one of Tim's On The Edge Dies for the top of the Tag, which i hand stitched in fine gauge wire, a thimble would of saved my poor finger tips but we do have to suffer for our art sometimes! I also cut an extra circle to place over the eye-let front and back...I took inspiration for this from the amazing Tammy Tutterow...

...I stamped the steampunk chaps onto a crumpled piece of brown paper, then did the same on a piece of plastic roughly cut to the same shape, then I lined them up & held them in place with a couple of small brads & stuck them with foam pads to the Book Plate...

...I gave the Tree Branch a fine sanding to let the paint show through, hopefully from this shot you can see all the layers of texture...

...I had a lot of fun making this Tag...I'm entering it for the following challenges...

4th JULY

...beauty is not in the face; beauty is the light in the heart...
- Kahlil Gibran -

...hello everyone hope your having the best of days...as you all know this coming Wednesday will be the 4th July, a very special day in the American calandar so I thought I would make a Tag for my loVely American friends and followers...this is for you...

...I randomly tore 4 strips of red coredination paper inked the edges with vintage photo and glued them to a plain white tag, which I then put in a texture fades embossing folder...

...this embossing folder is Tim Holtz music sheet, I dusted over the raised edges with black soot and went around the red outline with a silver gelly roll pen to add a bit of sparkle, you can't have a celebration without a bit of sparkle...

...I hand painted these little stars with Leandra's new PaperArtsy chalk acrylic paints in honey dew onto a piece of cotton which I'd coated in Tim Holtz peacock feathers, I loVe the shabby feel this whole Tag has taken on...the heart is a Sizzix cut which was painted with sherbert chalk acrylic and edged in charcoal, again for that shabby feel, the contrast of the shiney crackled wings against the flat chalkiness of the heart sits so well together...

...as the flags of the world go and not just because I am English I adore the Union Jack but the American flag with it's stars & stripes is very aesthetically pleasing...

...there she is in her shabby chic glory I do hope you like her...

...also...

...yesterday I had the pleasure of my first visit to the Craft Barn, they were holding an Extravaganser Weekend and it didn't disappoint...lots of very interesting demo's to see, I'd forgotten my camera which was annoying  but managed to see Neil Walker in action along with Andy Skinner & Leandra of PaperArtsy...I also got to meet two fellow bloggers in Mark (speshink) & Alison (craftytrog) it was nice to put a face to the people behind the blog...there was also an amazing shop which was a treasure trove of crafting jewels...

...my loVely Mum who had come along with me couldn't let me come away empty handed so she got me this little lot! some of which I've used above...

...thank you for dropping by today, untill next time...xxx
